Junk Removal Tip: Creating Garage Storage Space

by on November 27, 2012

It’s that time of the year – junk removal project is in full effect. And as much as you may enjoy getting rid of a lot of your clutter, you may want to do what you can now (while you’re in clean mode) to figure out a way to ensure this clutter doesn’t build up again and you stay more organized. What better place to store your less-than-oft-used items than in the garage? But wait – the garage somehow also has to fit your car in it, so you need a way to organize it so everything fits. Here are some tips from your junk removal experts that may help you do just that.

If you’re lucky enough to have a spacious garage, then by all means – make the most out of it! Building storage space in your garage will help free up room in your home. One of the best garage storage space ideas is building overhead shelves. If you have an extra five feet or more in your garage that is just open space and are lucky enough to have some support beams already in place, all you need are the shelves. This is truly the best way to organize because all the items you store in this area will be completely out of sight. You can store Christmas decorations, seasonal clothes and other items that you may only need to access once in a while. If you’re thinking of storing items that need to be more accessible, then perhaps you should consider another storage option such as shelves or cabinets. One last reason that overhead storage is ideal is because it keeps all these items out of the way of any possible flooding or excess moisture (however, no matter where you store your items, they should always be in plastic containers that are well sealed).

Cabinets are another great option. You could either build your own or purchase some at your local hardware store. These allow you to have quick access to whatever items you’re storing without having to a lot of ups and downs on a ladder or heavy lifting. And whether you choose to super organize your cabinets or just throw stuff in, all your items will be concealed.

Installing shelves in your garage is another great option for storage purposes. Like cabinets, they offer easy-to-store and easy-to-access solutions and puts everything within view. One of the few problems with this storage option, however, is that you may be tempted to just throw things on the shelf without organizing it, leading to more clutter.

Hopefully these tips provided by your junk removal specialists will help you de-clutter your home and free up some space inside your house.
